Why study Spanish in Madrid?

The city

Madrid is the ideal city to study Spanish. It is undoubtedly one of the most important cities in Europe. It is modern, well looked after and expanding. Madrid is the meeting point of many nationalities, cultures, races and styles. An open and welcoming city for all those coming to enjoy its riches and for those looking for a permanent home.

With almost 3.000 hours of sunshine per year, you can expect blue skies everyday. The capital of Spain has a privileged location right in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula. You can visit and spend some time in places that transport you to a different time, have unforgettable experiences and see things that you won´t find anywhere else in the world. We encourage you to enjoy all the things we have told you about for yourself and make your visit to Madrid an unforgettable one. It will find a special place in your heart and we are sure you will want to return.

Tourist attractions

In Madrid you can find historical neighborhoods full of tradition and personality as well as modern neighborhoods with smart buildings. There are also extensive and exotic parks, famous museums, gastronomy from all over the world and typical Spanish cuisine. Not forgetting all the shows, historical businesses, leisure and sport activities, a modern transport system and much more!

Spain's capital also has valuable and beautiful architectural buildings both historic and modern. Some of the city tourist highlights are: Retiro Park, Plaza Mayor, the Orient Palace, the Opera Palace, eje Atocha, the Bank of Spain, Plaza Colón and Plaza de Castilla. All are worth seeing and appreciated for their quality, history, spectacular nature and the mix of classic and emblematic buildings with parks and modern construction. The stadium of one of the most popular and historic football teams in the world, Real Madrid, is also right here.

Spanish language

The difference between Madrid and other Spanish cities is that only Spanish is spoken and even more very well as far as expressions and accents are concerned. This means that foreigners tend to learn Spanish much easier as students speak the same language in the street as they are taught in the school.

Culture

Undoubtedly, Madrid has a very interesting history.

The locals have not forgotten that many writers from the Golden Age of Spanish literature lived here such as Quevedo, Góngora, Lope de Vega, and even Don Miguel de Cervantes. The first part of the manuscript of "El Quijote" was also printed in Madrid.

It also has some of the most important museums in the world: El Prado (with paintings by Velázquez, Goya, Murillo...), the Reina Sofía (Picasso, Dalí...) and the Thyssen-Bornemisza.

Many institutions are also located in Madrid such as the Cervantes Institute, the National Library and the Royal Language Academy whose importance and tradition is well known throughout the world.
